Well they can when Joe McNally is around! So yesterday afternoon, Joe comes from the lodge office with this smile on his face which can only mean no good. Joe being Joe, looked into the “helicopter rides” that are offered across the street from our lodge. After a, oh, one second discussion, Joe & I had booked the flight for this AM. Joe & I had the 1st flight, Kevin & Laurie the 2nd. We had a KILLER flight at a deserted end of Bryce that you can only reach by helicopter. It was fantastic! It was no “tourist” helicopter ride! That Joe McNally….he’s da man!

Wow…what a gorgeous evening at Bryce! We just stood, watched the beauty unfold and enjoyed great conversation. Life doesn’t get any better!

Greeted by an awesome moonrise, the DWLS staff pilled into the van (yeah, I was allowed back in) and headed off to scout & shoot this AM. We were greeted with bald skies. That’s great! Not for photography, that sucks. But normally we have great puffies before the event and none during. My thinking is, with none at the start and the predicted snow storm coming in tomorrow, we’ll have killer light all week. We’ll just have to stay tuned to see in the Photogods will play nice with us. This AM, I just had to make the most of the extreme contrast.

On The Road Again…that’s right, we’re back on the road. The DLWS Staff is in Mobby Dick (big white van) and heading to Bryce. We just had to travel through Zion NP, darn, and give it a thorough gawk. Now you might be wondering why the van is tilting a little to the left. We’re pretty sure that’s from all of Laurie’s camera gear. Or, because Joe & Kevin are having to sit on Brad & Josh (those kids, kept making us stop). And why am I shooting from behind the van? Well, I was bad and got exiled to running.

One of my favorite emails comes from this creative genius. When Scott emails he’s coming to a DLWS event, I KNOW I’m going to learn something new! Scott’s ability to teach complicated thoughts and task so clearly and with so much humor is only a small touch of his genius. It’s his ability to take the complicated and powerful Photoshop and make it dance around his pinky to finish art that totally blows me a way. So, you want to get a taste of this, head to his blog …now…don’t read any further…go!!!!

Of course, the fact that the photo on the top of his blog was taken at our Yosemite DLWS doesn’t sway my opinion, at all.
